Thank you for visiting our Atmore VFW website. We have had some new developments here at Post 7016 lately and I am one of those changes. I was elected by the post membership as its new Commander following the illness and death of former Post Commander, Billy Gates on October 3, 2025.  Though I have been a member of Post 7016 for many years and have served in various officer positions, this is my first time as Commander.  Further, as if the sudden loss of our beloved Commander of seventeen years was not enough of a challenge, we were also compelled to abandon and sell our Post Headquarters facility due to black mold contamination throughout.  I have had a lot to learn and a lot to do over the pass few months and there is much left to do. I am thankful to my fellow VFW members for their support. 

 

Our Post has yet much to do to accomplish our mission of helping our fellow veterans and their families in distress and fostering patriotism in our community.  We need to strengthen our membership and the support of local businesses and citizenry to achieve our mission.  In due time, we will need to find a new home.  For the time being, we are grateful for the generosity of the City of Atmore for allowing us to conduct our business meetings at the Atmore Public Library.
