ATMORE, ALABAMA VFW POST 7016 POW/MIA TABLE DEDICATION
We are compelled neve to forget the price paid on battlefields so we can enjoy our daily pleasure of life.THIS TABLE stands as testimony and speaks for Prisoners of War and Missing In Action comrades. The TABLECLOTHE is white, symbolic of the purity of their intentions, responding to their country's call to arms. The NAPKIN is black and signifies emptiness and loneliness in families' lives and hearts. The small ONE-PLACE TABLE SETTING symbolizes the frailty of one POW/MIA Comrade still on patrol. The RED ROSE signifies the blood sacrificed, ensuring America's freedom! The VASE WITH RED RIBBON symbolizes our determination to account for and await their return. The LEMON SLICE reminds us of the bitter fate of those captured and missing in action. The PILE OF SALT ON THE PLATE symbolizes the fallen tears of families as they await their return. The BIBLE represents strength through faith, sustaining our POW and MIA Comrades still on patrol. The CANDLE is lit, illuminating their way home to families and a grateful nation. The GLASS is inverted, indicating that they cannot toast with us tonight. The BLACK CHAIR is EMPTY! They are not here with us or their grieving families tonight. The POW/MIA FLAG reminds us of their supreme sacrifice and them possibly not returning.
